NBX Digital T1/PRI Card
One Card - Double the Abilities
NBX (T1) Digital Line Card: Use this card to connect to a single 1.544 Mbps point-to-point circuit provided by your phone carrier. T1 lines are widely used in the United States to provide standard dial-tone service, as well as dedicated private network interconnections and intercity trunks. A T1 line uses two wire pairs (one for transmit, one for receive) and time division multiplexing (TDM) to interleave twenty-four 64-Kbps voice or data channels.
NBX PRI Line Card: This is the ISDN equivalent to T1, a single 2.048 Mbps point-to-point circuit provided by your telephone carrier. The high-speed version of ISDN, Primary Rate Interface provides twenty-three 64 Kbps bearer channels and one 64 Kbps (data) channel (23B+D) in North America, which is equivalent to the 24 channels of a T1 line. The D channel is used to send control signals that can dynamically allocate any number of B channels for different applications. For example, one channel can be used for voice, while another can be used for data, while six more can be used for a videoconferencing channel and so on. PRI lines typically use four wire pairs. In Europe, PRI includes 30 B channels and one D channel, equivalent to an E1 line.
